ABOUT DMCS

Who We Are

DMCS is committed to supporting the Deaf community by providing accessible, inclusive and professional services that recognise the diverse communication, educational and personal support needs of Deaf people.

Our work is centred around people. We believe that every Deaf person should have access to the right support, information and opportunities to participate fully in their community, education and everyday life.

Over the years, DMCS has developed its services to support an increasingly diverse Deaf community, including people who use different signed languages and communication methods. Our multilingual and experienced team enables us to provide support that is responsive to the individual needs of the people we work with.

Our Purpose

Our purpose is simple: to make sure Deaf people are heard, supported and included.

We work to remove communication barriers and create opportunities for Deaf people to access information, learning, advice and support in a way that works for them.

Through our services, partnerships and community work, we aim to strengthen inclusion, wellbeing, independence and personal growth across the Deaf community.

Our Vision

Our vision is for a society where Deaf people can access the information, advice, education and support they need without communication becoming a barrier.

We want every member of the Deaf community to feel included, respected, listened to and empowered to achieve their goals and participate fully in society.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide accessible and person-centred services that respond to the diverse needs of the Deaf community.

We do this by:

Our Journey

DMCS has continued to grow and develop in response to the changing needs of the Deaf community.

What began with a commitment to supporting Deaf people has developed into a wider range of services supporting people with different communication needs and backgrounds.

Today, DMCS works with clients who use BSL as well as other signed languages. This reflects the diversity within the Deaf community and our commitment to ensuring that no one is excluded because of the language they use.

Our development has also been recognised through important achievements and partnerships, including our Disability Confident status and funding support from organisations such as Inclusion London, Birkdale Trust and City Bridge Foundation.

Our most recent five-year funding from City Bridge Foundation reflects the importance of the support DMCS provides to the community and the trust placed in our organisation.

Our Values

Inclusive

We are open, welcoming and accessible. We believe everyone should be able to access our services and feel respected, regardless of their communication method, background or circumstances.

Collaborative

We believe stronger communities are built through partnership. We work with Deaf people, organisations, professionals and community partners to create better outcomes.

Listening

We listen to the people we support. Their experiences, needs and voices help shape our services and influence how we continue to improve.

Enabling

We aim to empower people rather than simply provide a service. Our support helps individuals build confidence, develop skills and make informed decisions.

Professional

We take pride in providing reliable, respectful and high-quality services. Professionalism is central to maintaining the trust of our clients, partners and funders.

Student & Community Centred

The people we support are at the heart of everything we do. Their wellbeing, development, independence and success remain our priority.

Building Trust Through Our Work

Transparency. Trust. Time.

These three principles are important to DMCS.

We believe trust is built through honest communication, consistent support and taking the time to understand the people and communities we serve.

We want our clients, partners and funders to know that when they work with DMCS, they are working with an organisation that genuinely understands the Deaf community and is committed to making a meaningful difference.
